stand firm

it’s been a while since my last post, as it’s been a crazy month.

here’s just a snippet of some of the things that have happened

+ it’s time for me to do some serious job hunting

+ had to show tough love and set some firm boundaries to those close to me.  they don’t call it tough for nothing!  i can’t remember the last time where i’ve consistently shed so many tears day after day

+ it’s been a very steep learning process with renovating property, solving problem after problem.

as a result, my prayer life has had to step up a notch as i simply can’t survive without starting my morning without some divine intervention.

i’m tremendously grateful for my dear friends who have spent time with me as i try and unwind, listening to me through all my tears and hurts.

i have no doubt that i will survive this tough season, and it’s a matter of tackling one thing at a time.  slowly but surely.

chatting to a friend yesterday, i realise sometimes all you can do in this season is to stand firm.   make your decision, be resolute, set your footing and then stand and hold your ground.  despite what comes your way.  be it wild weather, crashing waves… or manipulation, words of hurt, anger, tears of sorrow.

these words from Paul to the people at Ephesus 2000 years ago are ringing true to me today.

“for our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.  therefore put on the full armour of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.  stand firm then…”  ephesians 6:10-14

through this time, i’ve realised what calms me down and gives me some respite – going to the beach, surfing, hanging out in nature, praying, being with friends where you don’t feel you need to say anything, trying new yummy food, watching funny shows (kim’s convenience is a recent great find), playing games (though i haven’t found anyone who has the same propensity to playing strategic games as a form of relaxation like i do!), smelling beautiful scents, looking at beautiful interiors…

if you happen to be reading this, and feeling overwhelmed, do make sure you take some time to be kind to yourself and do something you love, even if it’s for a few minutes.

xoxo
