“i’ve never had a goal”, declares jason fried, owner of basecamp.

that really challenged my worldview, as i have always considered that successful people are goal setters.

whilst i’m still mulling over the way jason lives, it made me pause and ask myself why i’m setting goals.  and whether that practice is actually serving me, or whether i’m doing it simply because others have said it helps them.  at the end of last year, as i had done in many other previous years, i decided not to set any new years resolutions.  i’m not entirely sure whether this is working for me yet – though i have found it freeing in a sense.

it’s moments like this where i’ve realised it’s important to read, listen to and interact with people who hold different opinions to you, as it can challenge and refine your own beliefs.
